Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid rich tributes to Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray, saying his vision for Maharashtra continues to inspire the state's development journey.

The tribute came as leaders across the political spectrum remembered the fiery leader who founded the Shiv Sena in 1966 and went on to become one of the most influential figures in Maharashtra politics.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited Shivaji Park to pay respects, highlighting the alliance between the BJP and the Shiv Sena faction led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said his government was working to fulfill Balasaheb's dream of making Maharashtra a leading state in all parameters of development.

The Uddhav Thackeray-led faction also organized commemorative events, with former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray describing his father as the voice of the common Maharashtrian.

Cultural programs and exhibitions showcasing Balasaheb's life and work were organized across Mumbai and other cities in Maharashtra.
